Salcombe Harbour Hotel

Simon & Josie

What a treat! I was thoroughly spoilt this weekend as I got to work in the one of the most beautiful places at the most fabulous wedding. Simon & Josie had booked me to shoot their wedding in Salcombe, Devon... a place where the water is blue and the sand is pure golden. Being a Devon photographer you would think I got to work by the coast quite a bit but its not always the case. This county has the best of everything. I have been blessed with some lovely barn weddings, Dartmoor weddings and lovely city weddings this year so it has been great to finish off the summer season with two beach weddings. My weddings this year have shown me Devon in all different ways.

I met Simon & Josie a couple of years ago, Josie worked with my better half so we had the annual work parties together and always got on well... Once they set the date they had me in mind and I jumped to it! I knew they were an outdoorsy, relaxed, chilled pair so I could only of imagined what their special day was going to be like.

CUE ME ARRIVING TO THE BRIDAL PREP ON A BOAT.

I arrived in Salcombe early to jump on the boat taking me to the other side of the estuary of East Portlemouth to join the girls getting ready. They had an amazing base overlooking the water and also facing the Salcombe Harbour Hotel where Simon & his groomsmen were getting ready. I loved the idea of them both getting ready on either side.

The guests were all ferried over throughout the morning to make their way up to the church at the top of the hill. The weather was all over the place so we had sun, rain, wind and then sun again in that order pretty much all day which is what you get when you are by the coast... The weather doesn't faze me... photographers just adapt and we also like a little challenge :)

The church ceremony was beautiful, the church itself was one of the most beautiful I have been in and the emotions were certainly flowing. We had the tears, the smiles and most definitely the laughter thanks to Josie !

After the vows we all headed down the hill to the beach and the ferry, the guests went on ahead and the newlyweds had their photos taken with the tide out. They were up for pretty much anything. With Simon being an amazing documentary and wildlife film maker he knew what he wanted out of his wedding photography and it was really an honour that they chose me as that person.

The reception was being held at The Salcombe Harbour Hotel, a pretty spectacular venue with the best views around. The decor showed their personalities and all that they love in this world.

I am really struggling to put into words just how fab this wedding was, the vibe, the photo opportunities, the love between the families. I hope my images show what fun we all had.

Congratulations Mr & Mrs Vacher. I think you nailed your wedding day and showed them how its done.
